April is Child Abuse Prevention Month Time to Speak Up for Our Children

On Saturday April 3rd, River Bridge and CASA of the 9th held two events for the purpose of bringing awareness to April’s Child Abuse Prevention Month and honoring the child victims we saw in 2020.
In Glenwood Springs at the County Courthouse, River Bridge and CASA of the 9th held a recognition ceremony for the 305 children our organizations saw in 2020. We called out our “Jane” and “John” Doe’s and their ages, acknowledging that we believe them and will help support them. We also planted blue pinwheels, one for each child. The lawn at Veterans Memorial is covered!! See the recorded video of the event here.
In Aspen at Paepcke Park, River Bridge along with Pitkin County Adult and Family Services, Kids First, and the Buddy Program, also planted pinwheels for display to honor all children that have been abused and/or neglected.
If you are in either area, please stop by to see the displays and also honor these “children” that had the courage to come forward, tell their experience, and are seeking the help they need to heal.
